What you'll learn, week by week

Ten sessions, two parts: strategic foundations first, then hands-on technical skills. Click any session to expand.

Session 1: How AI actually works

The honest technical foundation. Tokens, context windows, RAG, and why every LLM output is technically a hallucination. After this, you stop being surprised when models bluff and start designing workflows that catch them.

Everything that comes out of an LLM is a hallucination. It just happens that sometimes the simulation is very accurate.
Session 2: Staying in control of long projects

Context pollution, model empathy, and how to handle a chat that's going off the rails. NotebookLM and Copilot Notebooks as RAG systems with source traceability. How to extract a handoff from a dying chat and start clean.

Session 3: Deep Research and point-of-view agents

Gemini Deep Research for grounded, source-cited reports across Reddit, earnings calls, and academic journals. Building "Maya," a consumer persona agent in Copilot grounded in real data, then interviewing her about your category.

Session 4: Visual communication for scientists

Build a brand-aware visual pipeline. Look-and-feel guides loaded into Gemini Gems. Character sheets for consumer personas with consistent images across angles and scenes. Turn ugly R charts into things people actually look at.

Make your data come to life. You got some chart that's like the key chart, make it nice.
Session 5: Music, video, and emotional storytelling

Suno for original music, Veo for video, 11Labs for narration. The session where John generates a nostalgia track from a sensory profile, builds a talking-head consumer testimonial, and shows you how to land a finding in the boardroom.

Session 6: AI as the data science amplifier

Where Part 2 begins. AI threaded through the full data science workflow: experiment design, data cleaning, analysis, communication. Plan your R or Python analysis in conversation with the model before a single line of code. Whiteboard sketches into publication-quality infographics.

Session 7: Coding without being a coder

Treat AI like an enthusiastic intern, not a vending machine. Walk through R code with the model as your tutor. Fight hallucinations by grounding everything in source material. Run your first AI-assisted panel performance analysis.

When you hear that voice in your head telling you that you are not a painter, by all means paint. So if you're like, 'I'm not a coder,' by all means code.
Session 8: Reproducible research, GitHub, the business case

Set up RStudio with a real project structure. Use GitHub and Git Kraken to see every change. Render your own scripts as Mermaid flowcharts. Write a humanized AI-generated business case to get IT to give you the tools you need.

Session 9: Build a Shiny dashboard live

Blank repo to deployed app in one session. Load the SensoMineR chocolate dataset, run PCA, build a styled Shiny dashboard, ship it to Railway at a public URL. Live bug fixes included. Style the whole thing from a North Star image generated in Imagen.

If it bleeds we can kill it. If you can get it to run and you can get it going, you can make it better.
Session 10: APIs and full-stack thinking

Make your first API call from R. Store keys safely in .Renviron. Chain Gemini and OpenStreetMap. Add AI-generated flavor profiles as mouseover tooltips on a PCA map. John closes with where the field's headed and how to keep moving.

AI is not a replacement, it's a multiplier. Ten times zero is still zero.

Who this is for

  • Sensory and consumer insights professionals who can't commit to a live 10-week cohort
  • Teams who want to share course access across multiple people via the Toolkit
  • Anyone who took Part 1 live and wants Part 2 async (or vice versa)
  • Professionals who joined the field recently and want the full archive
  • International audiences in time zones that don't match the live cohort

Who this isn't for

  • People who want live Q&A, cohort networking, and direct office hours with John. That's the live course.
  • Anyone looking for a generic ChatGPT tutorial. This is domain-specific to sensory and consumer science.

Want the live experience? See the live cohort.

Why this, and why now

The tools that made the curriculum possible a year ago have improved 10x and the cost has dropped to near-zero. Teams that build the habits now will outpace teams that wait. The recordings give you the same foundation the live cohort gets, on your timeline, at less than half the price.

You'll come out of it with:

  • A working mental model for how to use AI in research workflows
  • 20+ ready-to-copy prompts for specific consumer insights tasks
  • The confidence to mock up an app, generate visuals, and analyze open ends without waiting for a developer or a designer
  • A library of practice datasets you can use forever

What Cohort 1 students did with it

"The course's most valuable message apart from the techniques and tools was how to approach this new world of AI — how our workstyle will now change. The course guided us to understand how the foundation of our worklife has changed and how to interact with these new tools."

After the course, Razi built his first-ever AI agent — a multi-agent pipeline that creates five Meta ads within 30-45 seconds, a task that previously took hours.

Razi Imam

Founder & CEO, 113 Industries

"I especially liked the integration of strategies on how to use AI images and videos for strategic storytelling — the course was not only about how to use the tools but how to be a better presenter within sensory and consumer science departments."

Adriana Schoenhaut, PhD

Sensory Neuroscience & Data Analysis

"I totally changed my mindset and started to work with AI in a completely different way — giving way more details of different aspects of projects and asking AI for its opinion."

I finally managed to work very smoothly with Gemini. I developed a fake focus group about non-alcoholic cocktails — creating a Discussion Guide, descriptions of 10 participants, photos of the stimuli, a possible script, an image and a tune reflecting the mood, and an avatar of one of the participants.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from the live course?

The live course adds three things: weekly live sessions with John, two office hours per week, and a cohort of peers working through the material with you. The recordings are the same teaching content, async. Same curriculum, same datasets, same prompts. No live Q&A.

How long do I have access?

Forever. The recordings, transcripts, and datakit are yours to keep. The Toolkit (in the bundle) is 1 year of access, renewable.

Can I share access with my team?

The recordings are single-seat. For team access, look at the live course Corporate Seat Bank ($25,000 for 10 seats) or talk to us about Internal Corporate Training.

Do I get a certificate?

Yes. Same PDF certificate of completion that live students get.

Can I upgrade to the live course later?

Yes. Apply the recordings purchase as credit toward a live cohort within 12 months.

Are the recordings updated as new sessions are taught?

You get the current archive at the time of purchase. Future cohorts may add bonus content, and we'll notify recordings buyers when it lands.

What software do I need?

Standard laptop, web browser, a few AI tool subscriptions (ChatGPT or Claude, Gemini, Suno, NotebookLM). The course teaches free or low-cost options for everything.

Refund policy?

30-day money-back guarantee. If the recordings aren't useful, email us and we'll refund.

Stop watching the AI conversation. Lead it.

For less than the cost of a single conference, you'll have the AI foundation that took our Cohort 1 students 10 weeks to build. Watch on your schedule. Keep everything forever.
